Arrive 11:15am It has been two days since the "control" (shiny gold) measurement. I will have to repeat it before doing measurements on black gold. Chamber pressure 7.95e-8 mbar; ie: still not at base pressure. Probably good enough though. Resistance of filament ~1.4R. Turn gun back on, to 1.15A. Record sample current at max initial energy, to give a measure of emission current. Wait until it appears stable before doing sweeps. 602 scale 1e-6 x 0.1 Changed mind, only went to 1.141A (same current as always used previously). TODO: Modify config section of file. Record voltage: 1.114V across filament, 1.45V on power supply. Note initial voltage is jumping around a lot (again). Possible bad connection between grounds? Adjusted 602 scale because current had maxed out ADC5, re-started recording. Scale 1e-6 x 0.3 Check connection between DAC and Power supply grounds. Connection seems dogdgy between ADC/DAC box ground terminal and actual ADC/DAC ground. Adjust scale of 602 again to 1e-6 x 1 Identified problem loose wire on ADC/DAC ground terminal that connects the bannana plug to ground. Need to attach better. Not really convenient to solder right now (experiment in progress!). Moved wire, seems to be in better contact, but will need a more permanent solution (duc-tape!) Initial energy has gone from 15.50 +/- 0.5 V to 16.84 +/- 0.00V, much better now. Note massive spike and then sudden decrease in current in file 114137.dat is *NOT* due to a scale change! Scale was kept at 1e-6 x 1 At 11:56am, voltage across filament is 1.161V (1.50V at power supply). Current still not stable after ~1 hour? Turn sample around, see if there is a difference. Still not stable after ~3 hours. Screw this. Sergey has magically made the current stable, but he thinks it should have been stable a long time ago. Still slow linear decrease in current. Manually record emission and accel lens leak current.
