+The saga continues
+
+Sergey thinks there is a problem with the electron gun control circuit.
+I agree that it behaves strangely, but if the electrodes are fixed for a long period of time, results are probably usable.
+
+Basically, the current responds significantly to changes in electrode potential, but then drifts in the opposite direction.
+Ie: It "overshoots". This makes it hard to optimise electrodes. For example, I increase an electrode, and the current increases. Then the current starts to decrease, indicating I am past a maximum. So I decrease the electrode potential to go back to the maximum, but current continues to decrease further. If the electrode is left alone, the current then slowly starts to increase again.

+The 602 feedback switch was in the "FAST" position. I think Sergey set it like that, because I read in the manual not to do this if the output is connected. I have always used "NORMAL". The output to the ADC cannot be used if it is in "FAST".s

+Quote for future reference: "WARNING The Model 602 may be used with the feedback switch in the FAST position with other instruments. However, make sure there is no common ground connection between low terminals of the model 602 and the other instrument." and "Fast method - Below 10^{-15}A"
+
+Setting back to "NORMAL". Current measured is only 0.28e-8A. Try to optimise again.
+
+I had disconnected the ground bridge between ADC/DAC box and electron gun box when moving the 610B. This made initial energy fluctuate (by as much as 2V, typically 0.1-0.5V), since the grounds were different. Adding the bridge back fixed this.
+
